It needs a little more effort for girls with acne to maintain a healthy skin. But yes, one can definitely overcome this issue over a period of time, when treated properly. Acne & pimple issues are very common in teens. I would even say you don't have to worry a lot about it as it quits your skin after few years.

However, taking good care of your skin by sticking to an ideal skincare routine can control acne to the maximum. And that's why I am here to share a good skincare routine for acne-prone skin beauties.

Usually people get perplexed to grab a specific skincare regimen when they carry acne. With so many products available in the market and with various conflicting information, people usually hop between products to get rid of their acne. I include myself who came across all these silly mistakes.

Howbeit, the truth is that a normal five steps skincare regimen can help you so well to achieve a clear skin.

SKINCARE ROUTINE FOR ACNE-PRONE SKIN DURING SUMMER:

1. CLEANSE WELL GENTLY:

The first and foremost step is to cleanse your face. Use a gentle cleanser to cleanse the face at morning and night. Make sure that you pat dry with a clean towel. Avoid using rough pads or scrubs aggressively hoping that it deep cleanses your skin.

Never use any harsh soaps or anti-bacterial hand wash to wash your face, it may lead to skin irritation. Use a gentle cleanser that suits your skin, helping you to control the excess oil in your face.

During summer, heat and humidity affects your skin to make your oil glands work overtime. It is better to use a oil-free cleanser or a foaming face wash which acts good in your skin. You don't have to run behind that costly brand products, you can use that one which matches your skin.

Don't have the habit of washing your face too often, it may strip off your skin's protective barrier which may lead to excess dryness and skin irritation.

At times when you wear makeup, you can double cleanse your face during night time. This ensures you to cleanse away all traces of excess dirt, sweat and makeup.

2. USE A TONER OR ASTRINGENT:

During summer, you can add an astringent to your skincare routine both morning & at night. Even if you have not used it yet, you can embark it. Based on the ingredients it contains, toners or astringents helps to remove the excess oil, tone and  hydrate the skin and fights against oil and breakouts.

Take a cotton pad or ball. Pour either of them on it and gently smooth over your face which removes makeup residue, cleanser leave outs and oil. This turns your skin matte. Be aware of not using any alcohol toners. Using toners with alcohol can irritate sensitive skin or sting pimples.

If your skin is too dry, then you can go for a good hydrating toner. If you feel a toner or astringent from a particular brand didn't go good on your skin, either change your brand or stopping using them.

Note: You can even add a spray bottle in your bag which holds face mists, which can be either a home made one or over the counter product which instantly brightens up and hydrates your skin. It is an easy way to refresh your skin on the go.

3. APPLY YOUR ACNE MEDICATIONS:

The next step is to apply that cream or gel which is prescribed by your doctor on the acne area. Be cautious. Use them, once the face is completely dry.

If you haven't visited a doctor yet, do consult a doctor to get right medications for your acne.

4. USE A GOOD OIL-FREE MOISTURIZER:

If you are person with oily skin, it doesn't mean that you can skip this step.Remember that it is also a vital step.  Oily skin belles can use a light moisturizer for summer at morning & before bed. As acne medications can leave your skin dry, there comes a need of a oil-free moisturizer to quench your skin's thirst.

There are many brands in the market with Moisturizer that get fully absorbed on your skin & which does not make you feel slick and greasy.

You can a pick either moisturizing gels, lotions or creams. Generally gels and lotions are lighter than creams. Use an oil-free and non-comedogenic labelled moisturizer which doesn't settle in your pores to aggravate acne.

5. APPLY A GOOD SUNSCREEN:

Everyone knows the importance of sunscreen especially during summer. Despite tanning, some products that you have used might be more susceptible to sun damage. You can apply a non-oily & non-comedogenic sunscreen with atleast SPF 15, to protect your skin from sun during A.M.

There is no need for a sunscreen separately when you use a moisturizer with SPF. It provides a complete shield from sun while moisturizing your skin.

Choose a tinted sunscreen, which gives you a good coverage without needing for an additional foundation makeup.

Also look for a sunscreen which designed for face than for your entire body, as it tends to be less-oily and doesn't possess any sunscreen smell.

FINAL TAKE:

As I always say, Be Consistent. This is the primary key that helps you to reach that perfect flawless skin you always wished for. Using medications once in a while alone can't help you to get rid of acne. Stick to a regular skincare religiously, for achieving that healthy clear skin.
